The Balvenie Doublewood acquires its complex yet rich and smooth taste from its maturation in two different types of oak cask.

During maturation the Balvenie Double Wood is transferred from a traditional whisky cask to an European sherry cask thereby acquiring character from each. This second cask ageing is at the heart of The Balvenie Double Wood.

The first period of maturation over more than two decades mellow the spirit. The whisky is then finished in Portwood casks.
